Animal Referral And Emergency Centre
The Animal Referral and Emergency Centre (AREC) provides 24/7 emergency care for pets in the Newcastle, Maitland, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens and Hunter regions, as well as an after hours referral service to GP vets. Our staff provides high quality care when illness or injury occurs, or if pets need continuing after hours care. They're trained in emergency management to deal with any situation, including overnight care demands. Emergency support is critical to the survival of the patient and its future quality of life. Our highly trained staff aim to provide the best possible initial and continuing care available. All visit records are returned to the general practice veterinarian and we may consult with, or refer patients to, specialist staff at other facilities to ensure the best care. We provide on-site laboratory services, radiology and ultrasound, minor and major surgery, urgent care and critical care where needed, as well as referral rehabilitation and ophthalmology services. We also work with HMRI Newcastle to provide MRI services (Monday to Thursday) for veterinary care.

Vetchat
At VetChat, we believe healthier pets start with better access to veterinary care. We’re here to support both pets and the vets who care for them. Through our telehealth platform, pet owners can connect with qualified veterinarians anytime, especially after hours when most clinics are closed. This means peace of mind for pet carers and timely advice when it’s needed most. For veterinary clinics, VetChat isn’t a replacement for in-person visits - it’s a powerful complement. We work alongside clinics to extend their reach, ease the pressure on in-clinic teams (especially after hours), and ensure pets receive the right care at the right time. Our mission is simple: to make veterinary care more accessible, to support veterinarians in delivering exceptional service, and to help pets live healthier, happier lives.

Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital
Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital's mission is to conserve, protect and ensure positive welfare outcomes for Australian wildlife through treatment, rehabilitation, research and education. We are no ordinary hospital. The Australian bushfire crisis of the summer of 2019-2020 devastated Australian flora and fauna, killing over one billion native animals. Whole populations were decimated, often because specialist wildlife rescue and medical care facilities were inundated with patients or simply not available. Thanks to dedicated sponsors, crowdfunding and teamwork, our customised semi-trailer is built to facilitate an immediate response to wildlife in crisis anywhere in Australia. This self-contained mobile hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and is based at our 100 acres of gifted land on Ewingsdale Road in Byron Shire. Led by CEO Dr Stephen Van Mil, a veterinarian, filmmaker and wildlife conservationist, Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital is a not-for-profit organisation well-placed to become Australia's pre-eminent wildlife treatment, rehabilitation and conservation hub. Our sole purpose is #forthewildlife - we aim to bridge a significant gap in specialist care and facilities for treatment and rehabilitation and build positive relationships with wildlife veterinarians, rescuers, carers and organisations.
