Background
About Abby Scheuerman
As a child, I always had a deep appreciation for art. Whether it was drawing, painting, or crafting, I would spend hours lost in the creative process. It was a way for me to express myself and let my imagination run wild. Growing up, I continued to immerse myself in art, taking classes and attending workshops. In high school, I discovered graphic design and fell in love with the idea of creating designs that communicated a message. I was fascinated by how design could influence people's thoughts and feelings, and I knew that this was something I wanted to pursue as a career. After graduating from high school, I enrolled in Kutztown University of Pennsylvania's Communication Design program. During my time at Kutztown, I gained a deep understanding of design principles and honed my skills in painting, drawing, typography, and brand design. I also learned how to use software in the Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and AfterEffects to bring my designs to life. Upon completing my degree, I my brand designer position at Lantern Press where I was able to showcase my talents in typography and layout, creating graphics for wall signs, catalogs, and wholesale product packaging. I also had the opportunity to travel to Atlanta and set up a showroom for the company, which led to more sales at a single trade show than ever before. At my current position at FranklinCovey, I was given the exciting task of illustrating a series of booklets for children from ages K–8 that teach the principles of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People while fostering creativity. It is inspiring to know that my work will be used to empower the next generation. After a few years in the design industry, I realized that I missed creating art and working with my hands and wanted to use my new-found design skills to make a difference in my community. I started exploring mural painting and was blown away by how murals could transform a space and bring people together. My first commissioned painting was a collaboration with a local Distillery in Salt Lake City, and the experience was exhilarating. From then on, I knew that mural painting was something I wanted to do more of. Today, I am a professional graphic designer and mural painter, with a passion for creating designs that inspire and bring joy to people's lives. Whether I am designing booklets for children or collaborating on large-scale murals, I am constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible with art and design.
