JOB PURPOSE To carry out scientific research, study and innovation on agronomy and to imply these information in providing technical support and recommendation on various aspects of agro-management to plantation upstream in most sustainable and profitable manner. JOB CONTENT 1. Preparing desktop study for Agronomic Fertiliser Recommendation (AFR) prior to field visit. Performing Agronomic Fertiliser Recommendation (AFR) field visit. Drafting fertiliser requirement and manuring program (Mplan, estimate, interim, actual) for respective estates. Carry out oil palm nursery culling and audit for respective estates. Provide training, workshop, clinic and field demo on various aspects of Agronomy for estate executives and staff. Carry out semi detail soil survey, soil correlation and ground soil identification / verification for respective estates. Carry out Agronomy trials at experimental scale, semi-commercial and observation plot. Handling profile inventory for estates and mills with Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) application / irrigation scheme. Performing POME land application / irrigation scheme assessment and audit for home estates and mills. Provide technical support on legal, environmental and operational aspects regarding POME discharge management to plantation upstream i.e. estates, mills and engineering department. Performing soil permeability test in Sime Darby estates for DOE license renewal, application and notification. Presenting and organizing field day for visitors and university students on agro-management best practices. IMPACT & ACCOUNTABILITY 1. To ensure best agronomic practices recommended are well implemented by the oil palm estates in accordance to recommendation and company policy (ARM). To ensure seedlings planted in the field by the estates are productive and free from abnormal characteristic through stringent nursery culling and audit. Preparing training materials and program regarding best agronomic practices for estate executives and staff. To ensure an accuracy and reliability of respective research data, recording and treatments. Accountable for technical recommendation on oil palm organic fertiliser requirement for potential inorganic fertiliser reduction or withdrawal. To provide technical support to state and federal DOE regarding POME utilisation in respond to environmental law and compliance.
