Adam Hoets | Architect, Designer & Founder of willowlamp Creator of sculptural lighting that transforms spaces worldwide “From designing eco-architecture in the South African landscape to crafting global sculptural lighting installations, I connect form, space, and emotion. My vision: transform ordinary interiors into extraordinary experiences through light.” I’m an architect by training and a designer by instinct—driven by a deep connection to nature and a passion for transforming space through light. After graduating from the University of Cape Town, I began my journey in eco-architecture, designing sculptural buildings that harmonised with their surroundings. That same design philosophy led me to found willowlamp in 2005—a creative lighting studio that has grown into a globally recognised brand. At willowlamp, we create award-winning sculptural lighting pieces that blur the line between function and art. Inspired by sacred geometry and the organic forms found in nature, our signature designs use a patented notch system and cascading ball-chain to produce intricate, architectural light installations. We’ve produced monumental works, like the 60 km ball-chain ceiling canopy for Cathédrale in Las Vegas (in partnership with Rockwell Group), and a set of three-tonne chandeliers for Crown Towers in Perth. Our collections feature in leading hotels, restaurants, galleries, and homes across the world. What drives me is a desire to tell stories through form, to create objects that connect people to beauty, and to build a brand where craftsmanship, innovation, and soul come together.
