About Adam McWhorter

Hey I'm Adam. I have lived in Portland, Oregon most of my life. I gave up my job as a mechanic to go back to school to become a developer. I hesitated to share my recent job history, I wasn't sure it was applicable to my long term goals. After some more thought, that has changed. I come from a back round in the trades. I was a mechanic for 5 years, I've worked on Class 8 (Semi trucks) and showroom quality restorations cars. Every step of the way it was the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that made me a good mechanic, when paired with the passion for solving problems. It made me a even better mechanic. Then with Covid and all the stories of other people going back to school. I knew there wouldn't be a better opportunity. I grew up on computers, granted I wasn't writing code. I still felt very comfortable on them. My biggest regret now is that is i waited this long to pursue coding. I enjoy it, to me it is an opportunity to learn how more things operate. My long term goal would be to find a job around security and coding. Where I could further my education, in a way to make my self both a better employee and a more diverse developer. Thanks, Adam
