Public Rights of Way Officer - Rights of Way Improvement Plan (ROWIP). Responsible for ensuring Rights of Way Improvement Plan targets and multi-agency access initiatives are delivered across the County. Lead implementation of numerous public rights of way (PRoW) and countryside access initiatives with a multi-agency/ partnership approach. Project plan and deliver schemes conceived and delivered within a short to medium term horizon; including the bidding for and securing of external funding/ grant and non-financial assistance from partners. Delivering integrated access schemes in the growth areas, working closely with planners and developers. Rivers & Paths Manager Protecting, promoting and enhancing public green and blue space access. Responsible for delivery of Medway Borough section of England Coast Path; a six-year, national project to create the longest, continuous, coastal trail, in the world. Securing funding over £350k+ for materials, conservation surveys, flood defence permissions, ecological works and procurement contracts in addition to landowner negotiations, project managing contractors to complete furniture upgrades, new signage and construction of new footway on the A228 at Grain. Secured to repair public slipway, install restrictive furniture against jet skis and commission local artist for nautically themed mural, creating a new public space. Responsible for two public piers on the river Medway, established legal procedures to reduce unlawful mooring by 95%, successful joint working with Maritime Volunteer Service to reduce river pollution, instillation of new signage, benches and historic interpretation panels at Sun Pier in addition to creating volunteer resource to assist with asset management. Public Rights of Way Officer Responsible for managing, protecting and improving 350km of public rights of way networks, managing two teams of volunteer and increased Bridleway network within Medway district to achieve national target.
