About Adeniyi Ogunbanwo

What are the challenges of education in Nigeria? What prevents teachers from delivering quality learning experiences? How widespread are these challenges—and how might they be solved? These are the questions that have shaped my career. My mission is to identify the root causes of systemic issues in the pre-tertiary education sector and to contribute meaningfully to their solution. I believe in the power of upskilling teachers and helping them discover new, effective approaches to classroom teaching. My journey began in the classroom, and later through academic exploration in psychology. But I soon realised that attempting to “fix” the problem one student at a time wasn’t enough. To make real change, I needed to work through the teachers—to equip them with the knowledge and tools that lead to transformation. At KEY academy, I lead Training and Development for all staff. My role involves designing, sourcing, monitoring, and evaluating professional development programmes that are relevant, impactful, and responsive to our school’s needs. I am currently soft launching ElevatEd Teachers' Hub, a freelance teacher training initiative that will allow me to expand my reach and grow as a facilitator. My goal is simple: to improve the quality of education by supporting those who deliver it.
