About Adrian Walsh

A MSc Wildlife Conservation and Management graduate with over 7 years of academic knowledge and expertise in ecology, and holds a genuine passion for species identification and habitat surveying practices. During my Master’s degree I studied a broad range of topics in order to enhance and consolidate my theoretical knowledge, including habitat evaluation, conservation genetics, biodiversity and ecosystem services, biological invasions and the human impact on the environment. I developed practical experience in conducting field identification procedures for various animal classes, including mammals, birds and insects, as well as plants. In addition to my field identification skills, I gained abilities in surveying and evaluating a wide range of habitats, including intertidal zones, semi-natural grassland, riparian habitats, and forestry plantations. Previous to my Master’s degree, I achieved a first class BSc (Hons) degree in Undenominated Science, a challenging and varied degree which covered a broad range of topics including marine, coastal and applied ecology, integrative and marine zoology, phylogenetics and conservation, biometry, environmental biotechnology, evolutionary biology and biostatistics. I am an enthusiastic and ambitious individual who holds a wide range of transferable skills and qualities gained through both academic studies and previous employment. Highly proficient in research, data and statistical analysis, as well as key abilities in the use of ArcGIS and QGIS software programmes to draft and prepare digital mapping for various habitats. A strong communicator and supportive team player who contributes to training and implementing improvements to overall team performance. Confidently undertakes independent projects, and utilises excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to complete a range of challenging ecological assignments.
