About Akramul Islam

With over 25 years of extensive experience in development programming, research, and monitoring & evaluation, I have served in mid to senior-level roles across several renowned development organizations, including the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS), PROSHIKA, Institute of Child and Mother Health (ICMH), Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), Community Health Care Project (CHCP), BRAC, and Heifer International. My areas of expertise span a broad range of development sectors, such as urban poverty alleviation, local governance, health, education, livelihoods, women’s empowerment, human rights and legal aid, adolescent and youth development, early childhood development (ECD), employment and income generation (EIG), and climate change & environmental sustainability. I specialize in action research and all aspects of monitoring and evaluation, including feasibility studies, baseline surveys, midterm and end-line evaluations, and impact assessments. I am proficient in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, including participatory methods (PLA/PRA) and data analysis. Additionally, I also have a successful track record in fundraising and program development, including the preparation of technical and financial proposals, expressions of interest (EOIs), concept notes, and results-based frameworks (Log-frames/RFAs).
