Background

About Alan Barnes

I am a fixer, a mechanic that can solve complex problems of all sorts. I have always had a deep-rooted ingenuity for creating tools or products that can help to solve problems. I have recently finished my bachelor’s degree in computer science at the University of Illinois and as a computer scientist, I have found an affinity for coding and solving problems using technology. I utilize my drive for efficiency and technology in my current role at Chicago Mold Engineering where I oversee and automate machines by developing custom applications utilizing an API, macros, and plugins for software. Working in the manufacturing industry with computer controlled machinery, I have been using my education of computer science to create more efficiency. Abstracting complex processes into simpler and more intuitive operations. As a computer scientist I am doing my part to solve complex business issues using programming languages. I am eager to find new roles that can utilize my education and experience in software and web development. Roles that will not only allow me to help solve business problems using programming languages, but one that will also help me to find and learn new ways to apply computer science to business applications.
