About Alan Eddy Gardner

Took early retirement from Local Authority service Management in Community Safety (CCTV, alarms, line worker, OOH, etc) after over 25 years service, and am still trained foster carer for ten years. I am delighted to have taken up a minibus driving role for adult services supporting day services provision, to provide an interest, and to continue to give back to the community I live in. I am experienced in working with children with special needs and worked as a school governor, and am an excellent communicator at all levels with empathy and respect to others at all times. i am qualified with HGV class 2, D1 licence, specialist emergency service fire appliance driver and site ambulances with first aid training. I have driven tracked Arctic vehicles, aircraft refuelling tankers, minibuses and also hold Motorcycle, RYA Inland waterway and sports-boat licences. in my previous career- i was a Local Authority senior manager with over 25 years extensive management experience of running technical and diverse departments, including managing shared authority services. specialised in Public CCTV, traffic enforcement, video alarm and emergency call centre management in 24/7 operational control room centres of which i was also the responsible centre manager. i am an excellent communicator skilled in motivation of staff, evaluation, high value technical project management and delivery via OJEC tendering etc, budgeting management circa £1.5M revenue and £500K PA capital project and delivery. Also innovative in delivery and development of new and efficient systems and ways of working, many of which were commended and awarded by external parties such as the police,and/ or achieving commercial accreditations for services i managed. I also chaired several public sector regional and national groups and was part of the Home Office delivery team for the National CCTV strategy within my sector and represented Local Authorities for England and Wales for my sector for many years.
