About Alan Philpott

I've always been interested in computers, ever since my father had his first computer custom built. I always wanted to know what each part does and how they work together. This was the first time I had gotten my own computer, a processor unheard of and only 256MB of Memory. I am a creative person and my first real passion was video editing. I have made YouTube videos since the age of 13 and have secured almost 1 million video views, learning countless skills throughout. My interests then broadened towards Digital Imaging. I had since gotten a better laptop to work with and used the Adobe Suite extensively, being self-thought through online tutorials and websites. I conducted freelance work designing logos for other YouTube professionals. I was later introduced to programming software by a friend and he had me hooked to it. From then I began learning HTML, CSS, and later, Java. I used websites like Lynda.com and tutorials from YouTube to broaden my knowledge in these languages. Programming languages intrigued me so much because I saw it as a way to communicate with a computer, something I had always wanted to do, and also because I saw it as an art. The way you can spend hours thinking of designs for software and for websites and see it come to life with code that you have written. It really is a hugely rewarding feeling which I still feel to this day, especially when it's something that positively transforms the lives of people around us every day.
