About Alan Urban
My team is developing functional ultrasound (fUS) imaging for basic and clinical neuroscience research with many collaborators worldwide. Our focus is on proposing innovative hardware and software fUSI solutions for a more comprehensive view of brain circuits at a large scale in behaving animals and humans. At a fundamental level, we are investigating the role of specific cell types in neurovascular coupling (NVC) to better understand the links between blood flow and neural activity. The NVC is impaired in aging and several pathologies, including stroke, Alzheimer's Disease, brain tumors. The fUSI technology has unique assets and can be easily combined with electrophysiology and tools for circuit interrogation to get new insights into curing the brain.
