About Alan Whitfield

I am a Senior Project Manager at Stockport Council and engaged in Project and Programme management in the Highways and Transportation Team. Currently my role also involves managing the Highway Services Framework which is has a high value for a local authority. Previously I was a Senior Highways Engineer with nearly a decades experience in both reactive and planned maintenance schemes. My role involved the preparation and supervision of planned maintenance schemes in both conventional and preventative maintenance materials up the value of This includes design/material selection, health and safety documents, writing HD 28s, traffic management, drainage and permitting. I was responsible for managing budgets of up to £2 million. I have many years’ experience of line management and currently manage the project managers and previously it was a team of eight reactive highways officers. I have significant experience of building and maintaining relationships with contractors and elected members and MPs as well as various other stakeholders from my current and previous roles. I have the NRSWA Supervisor card and I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation, an Associate Member of the Institute of Highway Engineers. I am also an Associate Member of the Institute of Asset Management and I have passed their Certificate in Asset Management.
