About Albert Cirera

I am 49 years old and I am currently full professor (catedràtic/catedrático) at Electronics and Biomedical Engineering Department of University of Barcelona. I have published more than 130 papers, with h=35. I have directed more than 20 projects, National competitive or contracts, attracting more than 5 MEuros. During these years I have directed 13 PhD thesis. My scientific activity was awarded with ICREA Academia award in 2010. In parallel I have carried out with industry many activity and contracts with different companies: I have 10 patents, I founded 2 spin-off and the Antoni Caparros Award in 2008 for this activity. Currently I manage a group of 12 people. In the field of Education, I teach either in Physics and Electronics/Electrical Engineering degrees and master in matters like Semiconductor Physics, Solid State Devices, Nanosensors at different levels, among many others matters at more basic level. I got always very good evaluation from students, probably due to my enthusiastic personality in class and combined activities (blackboard+lab+assigned problems+internet based problems+self teaching+.). Besides I am coordinator of the Doctorate in Nanoscience at the University of Barcelona, and coordinator of the Industrial Doctorate in Materials, Nanotechnology and Industrial Processes for the Catalan Universities. From April 2018 to December 2020 I have been Vice Rector for Entrepreneurship, Transfer and Innovation at the University of Barcelona.
