About Alejandro Iza

I graduated as a lawyer in Buenos Aires and specialized in international law and environmental law in London. After my Ph.D, I went on post-doc research and practice to The Hague, Brussels and Hamburg. I have 30+ years of experience in environmental and natural resources law, governance and diplomacy in over 60 countries. I have conceived and delivered a myriad of lectures, training courses, seminars and conferences for national governments, international organisations, local authorities and universities on natural resources, sustainable development, and climate change; environmental assessment; land and resources rights; livelihoods security; water governance; environmental diplomacy; transboundary dialogues; negotiations, conflict avoidance and dispute resolution. I have facilitated over 40 multi-stakeholder dialogues and established networks of policy and decision-makers, academics, scientists and civil society representatives to promote good governance and environmental sustainability. I have extensive experience in strategic planning and management, conception and execution of global programmes, and large-scale international projects. Coming from a multicultural background I am fluent in English, Spanish and German and have conversational French and Portuguese.
