About Alex Savill

I am a driven and passionate individual with a foundation in aircraft engineering, with an ambitious goal to become a commercial pilot or contribute to the general aeronautical industry. I am doing this through many ways: I studied at Farnborough College of Technology, in Engineering. I then moved on to the University of Salford for a few months to study Aircraft Engineering with Pilot Studies, becoming a course representative to gain leadership skills, and allow myself to gain any positions and opportunities that I would've otherwise missed. I am a sergeant in the Air Cadets, and after having done it for over 6 years I have led multiple relatively large projects. Some of my most notable and current ones are leading a team to complete restoration work on an authentic wind tunnel test of an old fighter prototype and also running the planning, researching and practical aspects of upgrading our flight simulator. The Duke of Edinburgh award taught me many lessons, as I worked up to completing my Gold award as of March 2024. The main ways it benefitted me was through teaching me soft skills, for instance keeping moral support while leading a team and keeping customers happy and interested. It also helped me network with many important people, including some who work in the exact industry I strive to enter. Work experience has been a large contributor to my range of experience, completing the best part of it at the Gatwick Training Campus with Boeing. This was rather competitive to achieve, and my group even got an exclusive tour around the only Boeing factory in the UK. The work experience consisted of networking with senior Boeing employees, using the 787-800 training simulator and other team activities. I also did a few days of work experience at RAF Odiham, where we met and spent most of our time with a team in the hangar, where we did a Chinook software update and did important mechanical replacements on them too. I am currently looking for a new place to study in September 2025, or work/networking opportunities, so if you wish to get in contact with me then I would love to talk to you.
