Background

About Alexander Schulze

I've been engaged in international development cooperation for more than twenty-five years, with a focus on global health. I've occupied different lead positions in philanthropy and governmental development cooperation. In global health, my focus areas are quality of health systems and care, health financing and social health protection including insurance schemes, and access to health products, technologies and services. My passion also lies in connecting health with other topics such as social protection, education or rural development. I strongly believe in collaboration across sectors and stakeholder groups - equal and effective partnership makes the difference to people's health and wellbeing! Currently, I am Head of Department at Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute. Previously, I've been ad personam member of The Global Fund's Ethics and Governance Committee, Steering Group Co-Chair of the Global Network for Health Financing and Social Protection (P4H) and member of the Advisory Council to The Lancet Global Health Commission on High-Quality Health Systems in the SDG era.
