About Alexander Thumm

Al started creating games in Klik and Play at age 12. He turned his personal passion into a professional focus completing studies in multi-media and graphic design and an undergraduate degree in music technology. He was awarded a PhD in a unique crossover area between music technology and game design. A highly-skilled game designer, with expertise encompassing gameplay programming, art-direction, game design narrative design and audio integration, Al also has a US patent on innovative techniques for expressive musical gameplay. He has worked with RMIT University to apply game technologies to a variety of projects including creating dance applications for people with mental disabilities, and learning applications for students. Al has presented on musical game design at several international game and academic conferences including MIGS and Unite LA and was a Visiting Scholar at the renowned Game Innovation Lab at the University of Southern California. He has also presented game stories to film and television producers at the Melbourne International Film Festival to an enthusiastic response. Over the last 8 years Al created all the game design, coding and art-direction for all Lamplight Forest projects. He is now looking to share his work with a broader audience through publishing and investment partnerships. Al is the Director and Creative Lead of the twin game studio Lamplight Forest / Orchid of Redemption
