About Alisha Collier

A trauma informed, experienced children’s services professional with a psychological background, and demonstrated history of working in the non-profit organization industry. Specialising in direct work with families with current or historical DVA or children with learning disabilities/ history of trauma. Experienced in case holding and managing a caseload. Advocate for a therapeutic, trauma informed approach and gentle parenting. I have extensive experience working with people of all ages who have a learning disability, as a result I am proficient at communicating in British sign language, with a basic knowledge of makaton. In my spare time I enjoy the gym and rollerskating, and writing short stories. I am also a liberal feminist who is passionate about all forms of social activism. I have undertaken charity work for woman’s aid, refuge, seven cups and food cycle. I ran a successful blog for many years, dedicated to women’s social issues. I am available to write content for blogs if requested. I am currently studying a degree in psychology, and my area of interest is around the pathologisation of women who have experienced trauma, and the presence of internalised misogyny and confirmation bias in the feminist movement.
