About Alison Bird

Alison advises companies, large and small, on a broad spectrum of legal issues related to the commercialization of data and technology. Her practice focuses on privacy law, technology transactions, commercial contracts, and internet law. She has a deep knowledge of U.S. privacy law as well as Europe's General Data Protection Regulation. She is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).Alison graduated from Harvard College and received a JD from Columbia Law School. She began her law firm career at Davis Polk & Wardwell. Prior to that she served as a law clerk for the Hon. Burton R. Lifland, Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court, SDNY. Alison is a lecturer on Privacy and IT Risk Management for Columbia University's Masters Program of Enterprise Risk Management. She is also a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals. She has served on the Women in the Profession Committee of the New York City Bar Association, has been a member of the Grants Advisory Committee of the New York Women’s Foundation and has also worked as a mentor and tutor for various not-for-profit organizations in New York City including Student Sponsor Partners, Learning Leaders’ New York City School Volunteer Program, and the JCC Partnership for Literacy.
