Energy transformation is important because it is among the largest problems of our time, the transformation of the post-industrial economy. The energy industry is responsible for a large part of our standard of living and competitive advantage of the North American economy. The stakes are high for everyone, including shareholders, employees, governments, and Indigenous peoples, in that the cost of a failed transition is immense in terms of lost income, jobs, opportunity and the quality of people lives. Those are the reasons why energy transformation is important to me, and I want to contribute to shaping it.I have worked for top energy companies and moved on to pursue entrepreneurial opportunities to drive innovation in the energy industry. My recent work has included participation in new energy startups, consulting, and one-year promoting the adoption of new a oil recovery technology application. I have been building my knowledge of business model design, startup strategy and the transformation of mature companies over the past 3-years. I have partnered up with a company called "Strategy Tools" that is based out of Stavanger, Norway, who are leaders in strategy, transformation, and specifically the energy transition in Europe. This alliance has provided me with training and access to modern strategy tools that provide frameworks for dual transformation for existing companies, and a thorough understanding of the venture capital funding process to scale a startup effectively.
