About Allison Thomas

I started off in IT industry working as a computer Operator in 1997 at a company called Protea Assurance. There after I moved to Metropolitan Life where I was employed for 12 years. Over the 12 years I had occurred various roles including working in System Architecture unit, working as developer / analysis and system analyst. I moved to the Department of Social Development (DSD)(government department) in 2012 and had since occupied various roles. These include Knowledge Officer, Change Management Manager and currently Deputy Director of Knowledge Management. During the last 3 years I was leading the development of a new NPO Management system for the department of Social Development. It has now been adopted by the National department of DSD and we are looking at rolling out to the first province early next year. The system is also been adopted by the Health department of the Western Cape and has now been classified as a transversal provincial system. Currently I am involved in the implementation and rollout of a Invoice Management Tracking System for the DSD where all invoices are tracked from the time that they enter the orgainsation till they are paid. I am consulting as a system implementer on a new CRM system that was developed by Oracle for the department. A new case management system has been developed by Oracle and a pilot implementation is now been done at one of our local service offices. I currently manage 6 units within the department and oversee a total of 21 staff members. These are as follows: Library Services, ICT Governance, Information Systems, Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Records / Information Management and Change Management. Over the years I have developed many skills from Project management, People Management, System Implementation, Change Management, Strategic planning and many other skills.
