About Alysha Herrera

In college, I thought I wanted to be a teacher - but ultimately, I learned that it wasn't really that job title that excited me. I didn't need to be the next Ms. Frizzle or Mr. Feeny. I didn't need a classroom of my own or to live on in the pages of numerous yearbooks. All I really needed was to engineer as many A-HA moments as possible! Now, these little lightbulbs moments are powerful things and can happen for anyone- For a student learning a new concept - For a teacher who learns a new way to connect with that concept - For a parent who learns a new way to connect with their student - For a person of any age who learns to appreciate their own value and stretch their skills in a new direction There's something really magical about bringing about one of these A-HA moments for someone else. However, I think it's particularly important to empower people to go out into the world and cause a ripple effect of A-HA moments for others. CAUSING A RIPPLE EFFECT OF "A-HA MOMENTS" FOR AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE IS THE MAIN MOTIVATING FORCE OF MY PROFESSIONAL LIFE. I'm a proud collaborator with families, communities and educators. I am a leader of leaders, striving to bring out the best in the people I work with so they can bring out the best outcomes for the world at large. I am a firm believer in the power of clear communication and effective processes (because those leave space for adaptability, relationship-building and growth). These forms of support are offered enthusiastically and equitably. These forms of support are made possible by my formal training (4.0 in dual-concentration MBA program) and lived experiences (15 years of learship experience). My navigational skills may be lacking (don't set me loose in a new place without a map) but my problem-solving skills are top notch (so set me loose on a puzzle, project or problem any day)! You can't fix a problem until you name it, but I'll ask the questions and put in the work to provide dependable solutions and frequent A-HA moments to as many people as possible!
