About Alyssa Schulte

2023 National Recreation and Parks Association's (NRPA) 30 under 30 honoree Nature has such a profound impact on our overall wellness, something that has become clear in the past years, and it is my goal to provide children and adults alike opportunities to discover and connect with our natural environment in an effort to live healthier lives. In response to my passion for working within the parks and recreation field, I pursued a Master’s of Science in Park and Resource Management and a Master’s of Education in Environmental Education both through Slippery Rock University to further my professional goals in the park and recreation realm. I am also a graduate of Wright State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education, majoring in Early Childhood Education. While working as a Program Assistant at the Centerville-Washington Park District, I have strived to utilize my experience in education to apply to various aspects of parks and recreation programming in providing children with engaging and interactive educational and recreational programming that incorporates early experiences with nature and the outdoors. I have also expanded upon those skills in leading hikes and fitness programs with families and adults, and in adapting to the COVID-19 pandemic to continue reaching the community's needs with take-home programming. Most recently, my professional career has allowed me to expand special event programming focused on getting families active together while also learning about the natural world. I also have designed and launched a summer camp that also focus on combining active lifestyles, nature, and fun!
