About Amanda Garner

I would describe myself as a passionate and considerate person, with a versatile career history which has taught me numerous life and work skills which I find has grounded me. After coming out of college I worked for a while in the hospitality sector and learned some valuable skills in customer service, teamwork, and discretion. At the age of 22 I started University after and I am delighted I did, as I proved to myself that with determination and self-compassion that I am capable of great things. I graduated from Edge Hill University as of July 2020 with an Upper Second-Class Psychology (Hons) Degree, where I completed additional modules in Lifestyle and behaviour, Social Neuroscience and Abnormal Psychology. As a Psychology graduate, I thrive off the determination that people exhibit, from how we interact, grow, and challenge ourselves to achieve our full potential and to overcome adversity. This drive is what I believe goes hand in hand with success and happiness. From my degree I have gained an array of valuable, transferable skills which are invaluable in my working life including time management, independence, organisation, team collaboration and research. Alongside skills in comprehension of theories, but also highlighting areas of further study founded on theories and data, based on evaluation of what evidence is presented but most importantly what information is not present. Studying psychology challenged my ability to think outside the norm, created resilience and the connections I made with my peers were not only precious in terms of having a solid support network, but allowed us all to motivate, inspire, challenge and expand each other’s knowledge and perspective.
