About Amber McMurphy

I am an artist/illustrator of children's books. My mission is to help young children identify in themselves and find creative ways to handle complicated feelings and to accept the differences in the way others may handle them. Another goal is to inspire others through my art and stories to discover more about themselves and how they can grow. I want to inspire alternative and healthy responses to social/emotional/physical problems. It's important to know how to understand and approach differences in people: physically, neurologically, culturally, without having to fully understand a diagnosis, religion, politics, etc. Currently, as a substitute teacher at Noble Academy, and previously, as a teacher's aide, I support the learning and development of students with learning disabilities ranging from mild to severe. All of my children have documented learning differences ranging from intellectually gifted to intellectually disabled. For 15+ years, I have advocated for my children and other students in the education setting to have reasonable accommodations for individual needs.
