About Ami Moore

Prior to School Counseling, I worked as a Mental Health Counselor at an in-patient Psychiatric Facility, working closely with at-risk adolescents. As a Mental Health Counselor, I learned the importance and effect of intervention with youth struggling socio-emotionally and/or with mental health-related issues. This experience taught me a lot, but I ultimately wanted to do more on the preventive side of things, which lead to my desire to work in a school system as a High School Counselor. My goal has been to help identify and address mental health-related issues sooner than later to help students receive the help/resources they need to be not only successful academically and in college/career, but also successful socio-emotionally. My current goal is to learn more about the College Counseling process to help better educate myself, my students, families, and faculty in hopes to create less stress around this process and make it more enjoyable for students and families. I am specifically interested in learning more about the college process for International students in the U.S. and students with Special Educational needs. In my spare time, I enjoy yoga, biking, hiking in NH, Netflix, and spending time with my husband and our two fur babies:)
