About Amrita Kapur

A gender expert with experience in domestic and international human rights and criminal law, I have held gender leadership and programme management roles across multiple jurisdictions. I hold a PhD in international criminal law and work to bridge the divide between research and practice; translate the international into national contexts; and navigate complex resistance to promote gender equality. With field experience in close to 20 countries, my approach is intersectional and participatory, with a focus on supporting local expertise to facilitate institutional transformation to promote gender equality. With technical expertise in gender justice, governance, institutional reform and peacebuilding, I have led programmes and projects in partnership with governments, multilateral and non-government organisations since 2010. I have managed teams with national and international staff, and programs focused on gender and inclusion in gender justice, institutional reform and governance in multiple conflict-affected contexts.
