About Amy Estes

I've spent 16 years as a public school teacher, teaching English, leading departments, and being a teacher-leader on the campuses where I've worked. I've led initiatives at the site and district levels, and been part of multiple leadership teams. I have a single subject credential in English, as well as an Administrative Credential. I'm also a writer, and am currently a dual-genre (fiction/CNF) MFA candidate at Vermont College of Fine Arts. I teach satire writing for the acclaimed Second City. My work has been featured on The Rumpus, McSweeney's, Catapult, and elsewhere. Additionally, I am part of the fiction reading team for The Rumpus literary magazine. My experience in both education and writing has helped me develop as a professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as knowledge and experience developing curriculum, mentoring teachers, building relationships with families and other community stakeholders, and leading in many areas.
