About Amy Kong

Hi! I'm Amy (she/her)Thanks for stopping by! I’m a recent Math + Data Science graduate from UBC with a passion for analysis, modeling, and storytelling through data. I love solving real-world problems — whether that means building predictive models, designing accessible tools, or helping people make better decisions with clearer insights.I’ve applied my skills across projects that range from forecasting NBA player performance, to predicting credit risk with machine learning, to developing a transit data system with a live web interface. I also redesigned a community-facing website that boosted traffic by 35% and user satisfaction by 90% — because I believe great data work doesn’t just live in notebooks, it drives impact out in the world. Some of the work I love:• Machine learning — building models that are accurate, explainable, and useful• Data analysis — digging into trends and telling stories with clarity• Visualization — designing reports that make insights accessible• Collaboration — aligning with stakeholders and supporting cross-functional teams• Building tools — from SQL-backed dashboards to full-stack web solutions🧠 A bit more about me:I thrive in curious, supportive environments and love roles where I can ask big questions, explore patterns, and turn ideas into action. I'm endlessly fascinated by how people interact with data — and how we can make that experience more human, useful, and empowering. Right now, I’m actively looking for Data Scientist roles where I can keep growing, contribute to thoughtful teams, and help build tools that make a difference. If that sounds like something you’re working on, I’d love to connect! Tools & Languages I’ve worked with:Python · R · MySQL · Scikit-learn · Jupyter · Docker · JavaScript · HTML/CSS · Git · Figma Based in Vancouver, BC — open to hybrid or on-site roles.
