Background

About Anabel Holguin

For as long as I can remember, I've aimed to hold myself to standards that encourage persistence and thoroughness—a work ethic which has stayed with me as I've started my academic and professional journey at the University of Maryland, College Park. I am currently a senior majoring in psychology and minoring in rhetoric on a pre-law track with a 4.0 GPA and over 300 hours of community service completed. During my time as a member of the Justice and Legal Thought program within UMD's College Park Scholars, I cultivated an interest in the law and the different professions within the field. In the past, I've had several experiences working with children, immigrants, and survivors of domestic violence. These opportunities have cultivated in me an interest to pursue a career that combines my passion for the law with helping vulnerable populations. Growing up in a Hispanic family, I learned to value diversity, cultural learning opportunities, and respect for all. As a Spanish-English bilingual and writer, I've been able to self-publish a bilingual children's book and gotten an essay published in an anthology for teenage writers in Maryland. I aim to imbue my future career with the skills and values I have developed as a result of this background.
