About Anda Fabrig

I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies at the University of Calgary in 2011. After working in both the private and non-profit industry, I made the decision to become an educator. I earned my Bachelor of Education degree in June 2016, and specialized in inclusive elementary education. I taught Elementary school for almost two years with the Calgary public board and then transitioned into the role of Sexuality Educator at the Centre for Sexuality. I provided comprehensive relationship and sexual health education in junior and senior high schools, created curriculum aligning the Centre's values and vision with the Alberta curriculum, and facilitated grade 4-6 girl groups focused on self-esteem and media literacy. In February of 2018, I came back to education with a new toolbox. I was a substitute teacher at the Calgary Board of Education, the Rocky View School Board, and Renert School. I was offered a CBE (Calgary Board of Education) temporary position in a grade 7 humanities role in January of 2020, and have been able to successfully adjust to the change in education due to the Covid-19 outbreak. I taught as a grade 8 social studies/humanities teacher with CBE for a year, and another year as a grade 6 teacher. Combining my love of education and anti-oppressive practice, I co-founded the Queer Education Foundation in 2020; a company that offers diversity and inclusion training on an intersectional basis, focusing on the 2SLGBTQ+ and racialized communities. This work led me to joining Shades of Humanity Consulting as a project manager and consultant. Through Shades, I have delivered education, strategic planning, and communications consulting with healthcare agencies, non-profits, and municipalities in the realm of advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion; including working as a seconded DEI Liaison for the Calgary Drop-In Centre.
