About Andrea Morf

I love sea and mountains and am passionate about transdisciplinary collaboration for sustainable development - with special focus on marine and coastal areas. Within coastal and marine governance, my special interests include institutional and policy analysis and evaluation, participation and conflict management, integrated and adaptive planning and management, sustainable blue economy, natural resource and conservation management, addressing climate change, risk management and knowledge integration and evaluation in relation to the above. I work as scientific analyst and coordinator at the Swedish Institute for the Marine Environment at Gothenburg university and as Senior Research Fellow at Nordregio in Stockholm in Sweden My most recent research includes the BONUS projects of BALTSPACE and BASMATI with focus on marine spatial planning (MSP) and a FORMAS financed project on advocacy coalitions, policy learning and policy brokers in marine conservation. In collaboration with responsible authorities, she also works with knowledge and method development for MSP, through a sequence of EU-DG MARE financed projects such as Baltic SCOPE, Pan Baltic Scope and now eMSP NBSR joining North and Baltic Sea areas using a communities of practice approach. Watch out for upcoming blue economy projects, such as the MISTRA financed C2B2 collaboration, led by the University of Gothenburg exploring societal and governance transformation for sustainable blue economy in a co-creative approach through so-called Living Labs and a project at Nordregio, Salmon and Gender Equality, studying where the women are in the Nordic blue economy. My master in natural sciences and PhD in human ecology allow me to help bridging across disciplines and knowledge types. In terms of project work, I have experience as project leader, work package leader, PI and in designing and leading collaborative learning processes and science-communication. I also have done reviews and consultancy for public authorities in my areas of competence and organised various conference sessions both irl and online. I like sharing my knowledge and learning myself from participants in academic teaching and expert courses. I co-chair the ICES Working Group Marin Planning and Coastal Zone Management (WGMPCZM 2016-23) and am member of various Nordic and international expert networks with focus on marine and coastal management, including the IOC-UNESCO MSPglobal2030 inititive.
