I recently finished my Master's thesis in Chemistry with a focus on Organic Chemistry and Chemical Biology. Having acquired a solid foundation in organocatalysis and photochemistry during my Bachelor's degree, I decided to pursue a long-time fascination with biological systems and shifted my focus towards exploring and modifying protein functions using small molecules which I synthesised myself. My recent biochemical endeavours focused on the incorporation of unnatural amino acids into proteins using genetic code expansion in bacteria and on MS-based proteomics using pronucleotide probes for in situ labelling of human cells infected with pathogenic bacteria.
