About Andrew Becker

I currently work as Senior Planning Officer at Urban Utilities, a water and wastewater provider in Southeast Queensland (SEQ), working with five of the local government regions in SEQ, including Brisbane City Council and Ipswich City Council. My role is to work with developers and negotiate Infrastructure Agreements to determine best case scenario outcomes for Water and Wastewater infrastructure, in terms of design, layout and cost efficiency. This also includes keeping track of existing agreements to ensure that conditioned infrastructure works are completed and any outstanding charges are collected prior to formally issuing connection and allow for use to occur. I also assist in calculating infrastructure charges for all development that is approved within the five councils and assist customers with enquiries to the existing network and potential expansion of the water and wastewater networks. Other continuous improvement projects such as mapping (with GIS software) conditioned infrastructure to ensure design works are not completed by both the business and developers to minimise wasted costs. I have recently completed my Masters in Transport and Traffic at Monash University in Victoria, Australia. My final research project looked at sustainable transport access options to Brisbane Airport, comparing it with best practice examples from around the world to identify key recommendations to improve sustainable transport access. My main area of interest in the transport industry is sustainable transport, with a focus on active transport. Previously, I completed a Bachelor in Urban Development majoring in Urban and Regional Planning at QUT.
