About Andrew Lay

I am a native of Cleveland, Tennessee and a life-long Methodist. I grew up attending First United Methodist Church in Cleveland. I worked on staff at Camp Lookout (a United Methodist Camp on Lookout Mountain in GA) for five summers and served on the Board of Directors for several years. In addition, I have served as the Minister in Residence for Celebration Camp at Camp Lookout. Celebration Camp is a week of camp that is designed for adults with special needs. I currently serve as the chairperson for the Holston Minister’s Convocation Design Team. I also serve as a member of Holston’s Dismantling Racism Task Force. I earned my bachelor's degree in Religion at Tennessee Wesleyan College in December 2014, and I have taught periodically as an adjunct professor in the religion department for several years. I completed my Master of Divinity degree at Asbury Theological Seminary in August 2018. In June 2019, I was commissioned as a provisional member in the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church. On June 5, 2022, I became an ordained Elder. I am currently serving as the pastor of Wesley Memorial United Methodist and Carlock United Methodist Churches in Etowah, Tennessee. I am the author of the books “Hope for the Holidays: Exploring the Message of Hope in the Christmas Story” and “Palms, Passion, & Resurrection: Holy Week According to Mark’s Gospel.” I love spending time with my wife Ally and our daughter.
