About Andy Middlebrooke

I’m Dr Andy Middlebrooke, an exercise physiologist and endurance performance expert with over 30 years’ experience helping athletes and organisations unlock their potential. My career has taken me from 14 years as a Researcher and Lecturer at the University of Exeter — working in the prestigious Children’s Health & Exercise Research Centre and the School of Sport & Health Sciences — to 7 years as Consultant Physiologist with GB Wheelchair Racing, supporting Paralympic and World Championship athletes. Along the way, I’ve authored several peer-reviewed papers in exercise physiology. But I’m also an athlete. I’ve completed the Étape du Tour, the Tour of Flanders, multi-day cycling challenges in the Alps, Pyrenees, Italy and Mallorca, as well as triathlons and marathons. That mix of scientist, coach, educator, and athlete is what makes my approach different. For athletes: I deliver science-based coaching, utilising physiological testing to remove the guesswork so you can train smarter and perform better. For organisations: I translate lessons from elite sport into practical strategies for resilience, wellbeing, and high performance. I’m not trend-driven. I’m science-driven — focused on always being ahead of the curve.
