About Anja van Gestel

Data scientist with a heart for people. Driven by curiosity, empathy, and a strong analytical (and team player!) mindset, I am passionate about using technology to make a real difference in people’s lives. So far, I’ve done this as a data scientist working with health data, but for me, the purpose matters more than the exact role or method. Whether it’s in health, the environment, social impact, or meaningful change — I’m open to exploring new ways to contribute. 🧬 After working in the field of digital and computational pathology, I now work with the Netherlands Cancer Registry data to reduce the impact of cancer. I really wanted to contribute in the fight against cancer, and I like to believe I did! Beyond the numbers, I’m fascinated by the connection between (data and) people. I love bringing creativity into my work to inspire others to be active, enjoy life, and make healthy choices.(If you’re one of my friends or (ex-)colleagues you probably already had to join in one of my ideas before.)
