About Antonio Alvarez Alvarez

I'm an Industrial Engineer from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) with a Master's in Management of Foundations and Associations (MFA) from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB). With nearly 30 years of professional experience, my career has been focused on R&D departments, where I've developed new products and led technical teams. My international experience includes working in the international division of TYCSA (CELSA Group), where I managed technical projects in the United States and China. I also served as Technical Director of the Shanghai industrial plant for FLAMAGAS (EXEA Corporation). For 15 years, I've specialized in technology transfer, with a strong emphasis on valorization and commercialization. I've acted as an intermediary between research centers and companies, facilitating R&D project development, and managing projects to secure public funding. Within this period, I've dedicated myself to business development for the Technology Centre of the UPC (CIT UPC). In this role, I've promoted applied research, fostered cooperation, and improved coordination among different UPC research centers. The main goal is to effectively transfer R&D outcomes to the business sector. Since 2016, I've been the Executive Director, where I orchestrate the strategic progression of university R&D projects, bridging scientific discovery with practical application. I lead a talented team to cultivate strong relationships with industry partners, which accelerates the development and successful deployment of collaborative research initiatives.
