I come from an established medical background with a specialization in exercise physiology, kinesiology, and public health. I earned my Bachelor's in Medicine (MBBS/MD) and received two Master's: 1. Public Health (MPH) at the University of Glasgow (UoG), 2. Kinesiology (MS) at the Texas Tech University (TTU). Having studied and worked in both UK and the US, I worked as an Instructor and Assistant Professor for 6-years, teaching Human Physiology and Exercise Science courses to undergrad medical/kinesiology/exercise science students. Currently—as physician-researcher—my work at the University of Gloucestershire focuses on the critical intersections between cardiovascular health, sedentary behaviour, and menopause. Specifically, I'm investigating:(1) the interactions between modifiable lifestyle behaviors such as sedentary behavior (specifically prolonged sitting) and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular risk in menopausal women,(2) the complex physiology of interventions targeting sitting breakdown, and (3) translation of sedentary behavior research into public health policy.
