About Ashley Kurtz

My name is Ashley Kurtz and I am a junior at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida majoring in Social Entrepreneurship with a minor in Coastal Environmental Science. I am passionate about the world we live in and want to make it a better place. I love the oceans and want to ensure that our planet and the environment are here for the next generation to enjoy. I recently traveled to Tanzania, Africa as part of my FlagSHIP study abroad program at Flagler College. While there I traveled to multiple states within the country of Tanzania on the continent of Africa. I gained insight and exploration of development work focusing on international vs. locally led programs. We had cultural immersion through hands-on learning activities with the Massai people and Chagga tribe. I learned first-hand about the cultivation of coffee and its impact on local culture. I am now looking for a summer internship in the broader St. Augustine, FL area or Dallas Fort-Worth Metroplex that will allow me to apply what I have learned while learning some new skills over the summer.
