About Askat Tleuov

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education at the College of Humanities and Education of KIMEP University. I received my Ph.D. in Education from the University of Bath, UK, in 2017. I have a wide experience in English language teaching, working as an EFL teacher, lecturer, teacher educator, and researcher in Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom. I specialize in teacher cognition, teacher education, and teacher professional development. I have a particular interest in teacher knowledge, beliefs, and perceptions; how these are enacted in practice; and the personal, educational, and professional experiences which influence their development. Another strand of my research focuses on policy studies and the politics of education. My recent publication titled "Response of local academia to the internationalization of research policies in a non-Anglophone country" in the journal of Education Policy Analysis Archives involves the investigation of state and institution-wide research internationalization policies in Kazakhstan. I have been involved in teaching both undergraduate and graduate-level courses at KIMEP such as Academic English, Critical Pedagogy, Second Language Acquisition, Qualitative Research Methods, and Evaluation & Assessment in Language Education. I have supervised a number of Master- and PhD-level dissertations as well.
