About Aspen Derosa
Aspen DeRosa (they/them) is a multimedia artist and educator originally from the Virginia/Maryland area. They received their Bachelors of Fine Arts in photography from Virginia Commonwealth University in the Spring of 2019. Aspen also spent 2 years in the graduate photography program at University of Iowa, where they realized their passion for community-based education and care. Aspen currently works as a freelance photographer and Montessori educator. Their personal artwork is a collaborative, flamboyant spectacle that celebrates whimsy, play, and rest. They critique the performative nature of institutions and corporations, while also questioning the value of play and rest to these large capitalist structures. Aspen tells visual and tactile stories and creates space for expression of joy.
