About Avilien Dard
Avilien, a native of Perpignan in the South of France, pursued a Master's degree in plant/microbe interaction at in the City of Toulouse, France. In 2019 he obtained a fellowship from the French ministry to start his Ph.D. under the guidance of Dr. Jean-Philippe Reichheld in the Plant's Genome and Development Laboratory in his home town of Perpignan. His Ph.D. unravels redox mechanisms orchestrating plant adaptation to heat stress, especially the major role of Glutathione antioxidant and epigenetics. After completing his PhD in 2023, Avilien moved in the VIB-UGent Center for Plant Systems Biology in Belgium. Joining Frank Van Breusegem's lab as a Postdoc fellow, he focuses on unravelling nuclear oxidation events during various stress conditions and identifying target proteins at the proteomics level. In 2024, Avilien was awarded the prestigious MSCA (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions) postdoctoral fellowship allocated by the EU to study the role of reactive oxygen species regulating the formation of stress granules during heat stress in plants.
