About Baki Billah

Baki Billah received a PhD degree from Monash University, Australia, an MAS (Masters in Applied Statistics) degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, M.Sc.(First Class First) and B.Sc.(Hons)(First Class) degrees from the University of Dhaka. Baki has a strong research back ground. His research interests include risk modeling, diabetes, model selection and survival analysis. He is the chief biostatistician and consultant in a number of research projects in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. He has published more than 190 journal articles, letters and reports and 50 conference papers. His research articles have been published by the world leading journals e.g, Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Journal of Hypertension, The Australian Medical Journal, American Journal of Infection Control, Journal of American Medical Association, Journal of Oncology, The Journal of Nuclear Medicine, Frontiers of Immunology, Heart Lung and Circulation, Journal of Royal Statistical Society, International Journal of Forecasting. Baki has more than reads and 2,700 citations of his research (as of Sept 2020). Baki has developed models that would help to appropriately guide cardiac surgeons and patients in assessing preoperative risk of mortality following cardiac surgery. Currently, Baki is supervising six PhD students. Baki received about five million dollars research grant/fund. Baki is also involved in teaching biostatistics in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. He has an outstanding teaching records. The biostatistics subjects run by Baki have been classified as the “Golden or Outstanding Category” at Monash University for consecutive five years from 2016-2020. Baki has received “Teaching Excellence Award 2016”, “Outstanding Teaching Contribution Award 2017”, and "Exceptional Achievement Awards" from Monash. Baki loves gardening and pets.
