About Barbi Broadus

As the Executive Director of the Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad (CPAHA), I lead a mission-driven organization that works with high-level executives, government officials, and stakeholders to protect and honor the cultural heritage of Americans in foreign countries. With a master's degree in Economic Development and over 25 years of experience in international development and program management, I have a deep understanding of the global and historical context of our work and the impact it has on communities and relations. I have successfully rebuilt and streamlined the systems and processes for grants management, project management, and supportive systems at CPAHA, following multiple years without systems or staff. I have also developed and implemented policies and procedures related to fiscal oversight, ethics program, and security protocols. Additionally, I have negotiated and contracted with numerous vendors and partners, and collaborated with foreign and domestic non-governmental organizations, the Department of State, and other diplomats. My core competencies include strategy development and implementation, staff development and supervision, stakeholder management, partnership development, fundraising and development, grant writing and management, contract management, organizational development, and IT and enterprise technology. I am passionate about preserving and memorializing heritage sites and fostering cross-cultural understanding and respect.
