About Bartosz Tylkowski

I am a Polish scientist who holds an interdisciplinary background in both polymer chemistry field (experimental science including: membranes, microcapsules, photo-sensitive monomer synthesis) and strategic management. During the last 10 years of postdoctorate training, I have been awarded with Marie Curie Sklodowska Postdoctorate Fellowships 4 times (2 of them as an Individual Fellow), and 2 with industrial postdoctorate grants. During ca. 8 years of collaboration with industry I have had the unique possibility of acquiring knowledge not only in environmentally-friendly production methods, new trends in organic chemistry synthesis, materials modeling, microprocessing, including a large range of specific characterization tools, but also in management, risk analysis, leadership and intellectual properties fields. During the last years I have learnt how to bring innovation to the marketplace in a fast and effective way; manage the research and the funding for the project and make appropriate resource allocation decisions; however, performing breakthrough technologies, the most important part of my scientific curiosity have been focused on fundamental investigations. From the beginning of my scientific life, I decided to perform my career path at universities and research centers where I have had the possibility to develop outstanding technologies with a „freedom” of carrying out the fundamental experimental science with a deep understanding of its principles. Therefore I am not only a co-inventor of 4 granted patents and 18 patents applications but also a co-author of 40 publications, 11 book chapters; a co-editor of 5 books, an invited speaker to 24 seminars, a participant of 14 research projects (3 of them as a Principal Investigator) and a delegate at numerous conferences and workshops where I gave oral and poster presentations. Moreover, I have been involved in supervision of PhD, master and Erasmus students as well as in teaching activities.
