About Ben Brownson

Whether in my work as a program director for Chicago's premiere civic leadership organizatoin, project director focused on strategic planning and organizational development, consultant and facilitator for equity, diversity, and inclusion work, or theatremaker and founding artistic director of the award-winning Broken Nose Theatre, I am passionate about bringing my unique background and experience to connecting people, solving problems, and shifting our communities and our world in a better direction. Grounded in curiosity, creativity, and communication, my diverse roles in a range of organizations have cultivated an array of skills and experience. These include: program management, design, development, and implementation; organizational assessment and planning; civic leadership development; intersectional and cross-sector collaboration; curriculum design and facilitation; project management; nonprofit operations; event producing; grant writing; social justice and racial equity advocacy; creative problem solving; and various writing, communications, and artistic projects. Whatever the role, organization, program, or project, I thrive when connecting with individuals and organizations to cultivate empathy, foster conversation, facilitate engagement, build community, share stories, amplify underrepresented voices, and nurture connection and relationship. I believe that these values and endeavors are not only key components of any strong and successful organization, but are also vital elements in moving us all forward, together.
