Background
About Benard Chongo
I am an aspiring student passionate about environmental conservation & sustainable resource management. Currently preparing to pursue a Master’s degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Management, I aim to deepen my understanding of ecosystem dynamics and the vital role of biodiversity. My background in biology, with particular interest in conservation biology and entomology, drives my desire to explore the interconnectedness of species and their environments. Over the past three years, I have conducted research projects assessing water quality using insects and macro-invertebrates as bio-indicators in Kitwe District of the Copperbelt, which enhanced my skills in research design and data analysis. My internships with the National Malaria Elimination Center (NMEC) and the Zambia Agriculture Research Institute (ZARI) involved collaborative research efforts that strengthened my project management abilities and provided insights into the policy implications of scientific findings. Additionally, my contractual role with the East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (EC-SAHC) deepened my understanding of public health challenges in relation to environmental factors and enhanced my remote work experience. Furthermore, tutoring at Copperbelt University (CBU) has enriched my understanding of complex biological concepts and improved my communication skills.Working with the Wild Bird Foundation of America (WBFOA) on the Wilderness Project (TWP) offered invaluable experience in habitat restoration and species conservation, emphasizing the importance of community engagement in conservation efforts and enhancing my ability to collaborate in diverse teams.I am eager to connect with fellow students, educators, and professionals in the environmental field to share knowledge and collaborate on impactful initiatives that promote sustainability and conservation.
